4 Deer/Manik – What gifts do we bring to our world?

4 Deer/MANIK

4 is the cube, the most stable of all forms, and the establishment of volume by definition. The four directions give orientation to any form as the height, length, depth and breadth give shape to any form. The energy of Four sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.

Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations.

What gifts do you bring to the world?

Among the greatest of human needs is to be seen and acknowledged. This is a time to take stock in both how we see ourselves, and how we are seen (or not seen) by those we choose to surround us. Under the Seed/KAN trecena we are drawn into the creation of redefining ourselves. At the same time, the New Moon in Libra highlights our desire for right relationships.

Taking stock in ourselves…

Often it’s too easy to hold ourselves to standards we would never impose on someone else. Holding high standards guarantees we must strive with some effort to meet them. So, the challenge is to acknowledge our intentions above our own shortfalls.

How we are measured by others…

I once heard friendship defined like this – ‘You have a meltdown at the grocery store and make a huffy remark to the cashier. If you’ve brought a real friend along, they are likely to find the humor in the incident versus make a character judgment.’ (Who we are is demonstrated by far more than how we respond in a given moment or under a singular set of circumstances.)

Any time we make a character judgment we are taking limited information to impose an inaccurate assessment of someone else. By their nature, character judgments are simply the assessment of ‘me good’ and ‘you bad.’ We can’t measure our own worth accurately, based on the comparison of anyone else. And, just as we want to be seen in our integrity – that’s also how we must be willing to see others.

We can make the choice to leave behind those relationships where interactions leave us feeling we are less than who we are. We can speak our truth and negotiate our needs, but in the end, we can’t make someone change. We CAN choose to limit our exposure. (And, we can leave without saying “I’m leaving you – and here’s why…” We can just leave to move on to something better.)

Until we take the time to discover how we feel about ourselves based on our own Truth and in the light of our ability to uphold our right intentions, we might more easily find ourselves hoping ‘not to be found out’ for our shortcomings – than truly seeking to be seen and acknowledged for who we are.
