MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

Greetings Kin,

The first Tone of each trecena presents us with a new frame of reference from which to draw a deeper understanding throughout the 13-day cycle. Our reference for this trecena is Unconditional Love (Dog/OC). Each Day Sign of this trecena will draw us toward a deeper understanding of Love.

Tone 1 is meant to inspire through a new idea. Our awareness may have been drawn to a specific intention of Love. Tone 2 asks us to look deeper at what captured our attention. Part of our Human Nature is to be drawn toward the focus of our attention. The evolution of our Spirit – our Enlightenment, Higher Consciousness, and this Experience of our True Selves is a simple and natural result of calling our own attention to a focus on Love.

Tone 2 is a representation of duality calling us to look at something from both sides. Monkey can show us how the beauty of the world is a balance of darkness and light. As Master of all Arts, Monkey weaves the tapestry of our lives including the beauty of contrast. As we turn Love over to inspect its dark and light we might see how we give, receive, attract, detract, resist, and seek Love. This is the process that will lead us to a new Sacred Intention and our direction forward.

Dog/OC and Monkey/CHUEN share an affinity in their easy-going approach and innocent curiosity. As the first two Day Signs of this trecena they emphasis a Way to new understanding.

Monkey leads us to inspect our experiences with fascination and curiosity. Monkey is an artist. On the top of Monkey’s head, the glyph illustrates a scroll of all time rolled together. Monkey sees the bigger picture, where touches of darkness serve to embellish the Light. Monkey plays with Light as a source of magic. Science is discovering how our emanation of Light carries the energy of our intentions. Our intentions of Love generate our brightest light. (Article on Biophotons)

Dog shows the Way of not taking things personally. Where Love is not offered, we can simply move to the next opportunity. Dog shows us that Love is always a gift of Free Will that can’t be forced by demand.

As Tone 2 presents new ideas and awareness, we’re encouraged to withhold action until Tone 3, the first Tone of movement. Our direction may unfold with greater clarity over the course of the day.

To all my relations, may we allow Monkey to lead us to a new discovery about Love that captures our attention so we may be led to our own new understanding. May we be willing to risk Love without the condition of its return to become the accurate reflection of a Higher Love.

in lak’ech, i am another you,

THE TRECENA OF DOG/OC

2 Monkey Chuen (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI ), Kin 171

Galactic Tone 2: Duality; Mysterious as the question “to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.

Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the May as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. It is also considered to be one of the most fortunate and lucky day signs.

Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: The Racoon Symbol is Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.

NEW DAY KEEPERS: My sacred intention for the new Tzolk’in round is to offer more personal support to those who may want to learn more about ways to draw personal meaning from the calendar. I will be offering an Introductory Guided Course for Day Keepers in the near future. Contact me if this is something you would be interested in! Also, if you’d just like help identifying your Day Sign, I’m more than happy to help. Blessings, in lak’ech Debra (debra.malmos@gmail.com)
