8 Earth/CABAN – Lessons of Love

MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL

8 Earth / CABAN

8 Earth / CABAN

Greetings Kin,

7 Wisdom/CIB was a Kin of balancing energies. When we call on the Ancestors they respond with evidence of their presence. I found my thoughts drawn to my blessed teachers and those who have shared my path, but who are no longer with me. Through memories of our old stories and the ways they brought their Love, I know their presence with me.

On 8 Earth/CABAN we enter the energy of momentum. Tone 8 is the tone of Pure Spirit and recognized as the day for Sacred Ceremony in the Mayan tradition. The K’iche Maya recognize Earth/CABAN as “No’j” a Day Sign of knowledge. The Earth is recognized as a source through which to assimilate our knowledge. This is the resting place and substance of our Ancestors. 8 No’j is recognized as a Holy Awareness Day. As part of our Lessons of Love under the guidance of Dog/OC we are drawn to a celebration of our Consciousness of Love. We celebrate our Oneness with the Mother Earth and all her Beloved Creatures and the Gifts of Earth’s Magic.

Tone 8 brings harmony and balance through justice. As the Earth offers grounding through its electromagnetic energy, we can reciprocate through a blessing.

Like a Spiritual redistribution of energy Earth is capable of bring itself into balance. Spirit and Matter move in different ways so we can pay attention to the needs of both Body and Spirit. Tone 8 shifts us into the momentum of energy that integrates our newest understanding.

We can use Earth’s energy to anchor our Spirit’s Center. In traditional practice this may be done by setting a sacred shrine in each of the 4 directions, equal in distance from the Center of your home or sacred space. A stone or sacred object is buried at equal distances in each of the 4 directions. Each shrine is consecrated with an offering of cornmeal, tobacco, and water, and prayers are offered to the 4 Directions, the Up Above, Down Below, and Sacred Center of Spirit.

I offer the following blessing that might be given for setting your own Sacred Shrines:

“Grandmothers, Grandfathers, thank you for the inheritance you have left me. Through your guidance and wisdom, you help light my way. To the East, thank you Great Spirit for the blessing of every new day, and for the Life, Love and Inspiration you bring. To the South, Grandfathers, Grandmothers, thank you for helping me walk in right relationship with the Earth, and with One Another. To the West, the unknown and the hard road of life, thank you Grandfathers and Grandmothers, though we walk in darkness you bring the light. And, to the North, thank you again to the Ancient Ancestors, the Ascended Masters who peserved the ancient wisdom. To the Up Above, the Down Below, and to the Center of my Spirit, See Me Here. This is my place and my connection to the Mother. May all who pass by here be blessed with every step. A’ho!”

All sacred ceremony may be performed in practice or as meditation in Spirit. God makes a way equally to anyone anywhere, no matter our circumstances or location.

To all my relations, may we celebrate our newfound connection to our Mother Earth. May we draw near to make a connection so we may be illuminated by Earth’s Magic.

in lak’ech, i am another you

THE TRECENA OF DOG/OC

8 Earth/Caban (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)

Galactic Tone 8: Harmony and balance are the intent of eight. Eights carefully weigh all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below”. From simplicity to infinity, the energy of Eight organizes all levels of creation. Some Eights are “neat freaks”.

Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.

Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way.

“The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix. One Myth has it that a Beautiful Young Maiden (the Heron Spirit Bird) fell from the Tree of Life in the Sky Vault, & Found no Place to Land on the Primordial Sea. Turtle came to the Surface of the Water & gave her a Place to Land. She nested & Laid her Cosmic Egg, From which came all Life on Earth.” (Cherokee Astrology: Animal, Medicine in the Stars, Raven Hail)

  1. I gotta love that word moment-um, especially as applied to Love. ‘Momentum’ is a Latin word meaning: movement, moving power. The word ‘mens’ meaning mind. And then there is the word moment as in the ever-present right here right now. So it feels like 8 Caban’s gift is about reminding Us to focus our awareness on our very own heart-mind, with the intention of exponentially increasing the quality of Our Love. The energy of pure, supreme, unconditional Love originates from the Divine Mind, infinitely exists as an ongoing progression and development, that is becoming faster or stronger as time passes, and builds intensity with each precious moment. I’ll have some of that please!

    • We are given the same connection to the Spiritual Masters. I too call on my my own ancestors at times or feel their presence. I like to think they are really calling on me when it comes up. I don’t remember much of that moving except it was not what I thought I was getting ready to watch. LOL
