MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Sun/AHAU lived up to its reputation as a day that brought forth a valiant effort. Now, Crocodile/IMIX guides us to bring our Love and Compassion. Crocodile is the Day Sign of birth and a New Dawning. Tone 12 opens our eyes to a great capacity for retrospection and discernment. We are positioned for a new awakening as the pieces fit together.
My thoughts have been all over the place, and fingers on the wrong keys. First, I thought of the Bible’s story of Isaiah, when God called who would lead the way, Isaiah answered, “Here am I. Send Me!” Then my mind drifted to an eaglet webcam and the Spring I watched him “branching.” Planning passionately for his freedom from the nest, he’d exercise by jumping from branch to branch of the nest, and finally to the branch above the nest, where he held on to fly in place.
I can only say that this is how IMIX communicates. Symbolized as a primordial creature, Crocodile communicates in detached random messages that seem to have nothing to do with one another. This is a day (like every day) to pay attention our thoughts. Especially the ones that come out of the blue.
We are awakened to a new part of ourselves that we’ve been unable to see. 12 Crocodile/IMIX calls us to reflect on the Love of our Primordial Mother and the characteristics of the Divine Feminine. Where Sun/AHAU encouraged us to employ our courage, strength and perseverance to Love, the Love of Crocodile/IMIX brings nourishment, encouragement, compassion, and grace.
The Divine Feminine displays the characteristics of the Mother, Goddess, Priestess, Warrioress, and Lover who spark our inspiration, passion, and desire as a catalyst for change. Crocodile is said to engage our left brain thinking to follow our Altruistic Nature. IMIX empowers us as the Love that makes a difference for the greater good of all.
To all my relations, may we acknowledge the energy of the Divine Mother whose Love goes back to the beginning of time. May we open our hearts to the inspiration that ignites our passion to follow the dream we love.

12 Crocodile/IMIX (Cherokee, Turtle/DAK’SI I’SB)
Galactic Tone 12: Twelve is a gift of great capacity of retrospection. It is this ability that allows Twelve to connect disassociated parts into a (new) functioning whole. The energy of Twelve is that which presents a new piece of understood information or accumulated experience to be applied.
Crocodile/IMIX: Crocodile receives messages of primal creative force; simply the beginning of all things. Crocodiles who follow their hearts are seen as genius. There is no order to the primal messages, so Crocodile persons should direct their energies toward practical and cooperative efforts to bring productive results. Crocodiles have a strong nurturing energy and will work hard to provide security to family and friends. Being extremely territorial, Crocodiles must watch not to be over protective or too dominating. While in these states, Crocodiles are insecure, indecisive and emotionally volatile.
Cherokee Turtle/ DAK’SI I’SB: Turtle Island; direction East. The Turtle Constellation Orion, one of three stars in the Cosmic Egg. In Mayan is the Cosmic Hearth. Turtle is the Energy of Creative force at the one-on-one, personal level; dawn, awakening, birth. The beginning of each new era, this star in Orion appears with the rising Sun, heralding the creation of a new World cycle. Totem-Dragon. The energy to understand all things sacred; creation energy, connection for visions, to learn the mysteries of the Universal Knowledge. The dragon carries the source energy of life, revered in ancient cultures for power and wisdom.
NEW DAY KEEPERS: My sacred intention for the new Tzolk’in round is to offer more personal support to those who may want to learn more about ways to draw personal meaning from the calendar. I will be offering an Introductory Guided Course for Day Keepers in the near future. Contact me if this is something you would be interested in! Also, if you’d just like help identifying your Day Sign, I’m more than happy to help. Blessings, in lak’ech Debra (firstname.lastname@example.org)
