MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
On the Holy Day of the trecena, Tone 8, Storm/CAUAC reappears to reignite our Spirit. At Tone 8 we move into the Transformation Phase of this trecena where our Spiritual Effort will be reciprocated by a Divine Agency.
As the Road/EB trecena leads a journey that would manifest our Expression of Spirit in the world, we are Raised Up by the Truth that we are working within a Divine Collaboration. Dreams that seem impossible Are Possible given Divine Support. Every experience is Free to Be. Every hurdle can be balanced by the Joy of an Accomplishment.
Tone 8 represents the Divine Justice of Harmony and Equality, operating on the Principle of “as above, so below.” We are encouraged to see how One Person can make a difference. When we walk in alignment with the Creator, the result of our own effort will be multiplied by the force of Divine Intervention.
Storm/CAUAC embodies the feeling of warmth and security in the home while the tempest rages in the outside world. Storms exist to experience the ecstasy of freedom. We are encouraged to see how our difficult tests and storms of emotion are no less worthy as a Blessing than our experience of Joy. CAUAC is said to have a great capacity to both teach and learn. We can behold a Truth of how our challenges were meant to enrich our lives.
The Cherokee acknowledge Storm/CAUAC as the Redbird, a symbol of Lightning’s Spirit in the sky. The Redbird bestirs our “blood to speak.” Our Sixth Sense of Knowing is the key to Spiritual Communication and our access to the Wisdom of the Ancestors. We are called to Listen to our Inner Voice, as we are capable to recognize the Truth of a Divine Connection.
Through its “electricity of being,” CAUAC can nourish and re-ignite our Freedom of Spirit. CAUAC brings the Blessing of Rain, Giver of Life as a gift of nitrogen to Mother Earth, and ozone to Father Sky. Storm is associated with the cycles of the moon, relating to the feminine aspects of creation. The Divine Feminine holds the energy of Compassion, Service, and Divine Discernment. We are given new capacity to Love Ourselves, Others, and all our Experiences of Living, exactly as they are. A Divine Purpose holds the power to Transform Every Thing.
Through the intention of Justice as Harmony and Balance, no matter what danger we face, the Creator has already made a Way. The world is free to present any experience, and we will always reside under Divine Protection. Though Storm may sweep away a few dead branches, the strongest parts of us will thrive as roots reach down to find a deeper foundation.
As a Blue Day Sign, CAUAC speaks through our emotions. This is a day to acknowledge our feelings of Intuition and Knowing. The gift of “lightning in the blood” is our own Psychic Sense. Today we can reach an understanding by feelings that defy our Human explanation. We can simply Know from the core of our Being.
CAUAC is a day when the Maya offer prayers for clairvoyance and mental clarity. Representing the Element of Water, CAUAC is also a day for Holy Baptism and Purification in the Sacred Intention of Unity.
To all my relations, may we Know that the Creator accounted for every experience of living. Through the help of Divine Agency, every Darkness will be Transformed into Light. The experiences we might judge as unworthy can be recognized for the Divine Blessings they hold. We can finally be free from the limitations of having things go our way, as we Know that Justice and Harmony are the Sacred Intentions of a Divine Creator. May we retreat to our sanctuary within and imagine this Freedom… that everything we experience will be Transformed by Divine Authority. And, may we acknowledge and give thanks for the Blessing of Water, the Element of Nature that holds the Holy Ether of Spirit.

Cherokee, Redbird/TOTSU’HWA: Redbird’s symbol is Alcyone of the Pleiades Star in constellation Taurus. Alcyone is the Central Sun of the Universe, heart of heaven. Lightning is the visible evidence of the presence of Redbird Spirit in the Sky, daughter of the Sun Spirit, sign of Fire, Sun’s alter ego on Earth. Redbird is a feminine sign; the hand that rocks the cradle. The symbol of nurturing, the lightning nurtures and energizes, with energy for zest, curiosity, imagination, and ideas. Lightning adds spiritual force to the human by way of “lightning of the blood” of a healer, directly body to body vibration. The key to spiritual communication and access to the wisdom of the Ancestors lies in the ability to bestir the blood to speak.
