MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
The Next 13 days…
Through an Ascension of Atonement we are empowered to become Creators in our own right. Wind/IK is a Day Sign of the North, the direction of Divine Wisdom. Wind/IK holds the power to Create as the Breath of Life and Spirit. The world was created by the Divine Breath of the Creator’s spoken word.
As a White Day Sign, Wind holds the Intention of an Application of something we have learned. Each day and each trecena holds the energy of “Light” and “Dark.” Our Light is new inspiration and our Dark is application that transforms experience into Wisdom. The Wind/IK trecena engages us to Walk in the Truth of our Higher Self. Through an application we can experience ourselves as a Divine Creator.
PORTAL DAY: Element of Ether – Portal days thin the veil to Spiritual Dimensions. IK resides in the North, the direction of the Ancestors and the place of Divine Wisdom. 1 Wind/IK is the only portal day in this trecena. Today we are given a send-off of Inspiration as we set out on an Experience of our Self.
PEAK DAYS: Peak Experience, Peak Performance
- 6 Deer/MANIK- will guide a flow of movement as a Divine Agent
- 7 Star/LAMAT – offers perfect balance with the Creator, and will multiply to abundance our Personification of Light
- 8 Offering/MULUC – returns on the Holy Day, exalting the Truth of our Atonement as a means of Divine Justice
- 9 Dog/OC – empowers a Transformation of Unconditional Love
12th UINAL: A Higher Intention of Understanding
13 Crocodile/IMIX initiated us into the 12th Uinal, with the guidance to imagine our unlimited possibility. As we continue forward to near the end of a 260-day Tzolk’in round, we are being led nearer to an Understanding of our Personal Power. Our first Manifestation in this Uinal is guided by 10 Monkey/CHUEN, the Day Sign of a Master Artist and Creator, following the Peak Transformation of Unconditional Love by 9 Dog/OC. Over the course of this Uinal, we are first led by Wind/IK, the symbol of the Divine Creator. We will ascend on 13 Jaguar/IX. 13 is the sacred number of creation and theurgy, and the Jaguar holds the Wisdom of Earth’s Magic. Eagle/MEN trecena will follow to lift us up where we will be able to Realize our Divine Destiny.
GLOBAL BURNER DAY: 4 Serpent/CHICCHAN
Burner Days were observed by the Maya with Sacred Fire Ceremony for the purpose of restoring Harmony to the Community. Burner days accomplish a burn-off of residual energy that builds up through each season of the Tzolk’in. See more on the 13-day Trecena Guide.
At Tone 1 we stand in unity with everything that is. The MULUC trecena gave us a way to discern the Voice of our Higher Self that always exists in Unity with the Creator. We learned that every creation is born from an Inspiration of Spirit. Today we are given a Portal that will magnify our Spiritual Gifts of Knowing. We will be able to recognize a new idea as a Divine Inspiration.
The Cherokee Whirlwind illustrates the wind that carries the smoke of our prayers to the Creator. This is a time to be present for our first Divine Discernment as Creators. The first voice we are given will come through our Higher Self. This is the voice we are training ourselves to hear, the Voice of Spirit that holds authority over our Lower Self. We are reminded that our Higher Self is always in Unity with the Creator, connected through the Element of Air. As our first step draws awareness to Sacred Breath, may we anchor the sound of this voice in our memory.
Wind is the Element through which the first creation was born from the Creator’s spoken Intention. Today, the Creator speaks to us with the Inspiration for a Creation we would create together. The Creator’s Creation of us was born from a Dream that we would Know the Power we were given. As Co-Creators in Divine Relationship, we offer the Creator a shared experience of a Creator, Creating Creation.
The beginning of each trecena calls us to a new initiation. This is a day when we invest ourselves in a new journey. We can apply our New Wisdom and seek the Atonement of an Offering. This is a day of personal commitment in Offering our Self to a new experience of transformation.
The Song Sparrows on my balcony have been an inspiration as the mother spent all weekend teaching the baby to find its own meal. This morning the over-sized baby returns for the first time on its own. No longer crying, it is working to feed itself. We might relate to the Wind/IK trecena as offering us this same “rite of passage,” a hand-off of our Personal Power.
Tone 1 calls for a time of silence and reflection where we can clearly discern Voice of Spirit. We can connect through the Element of Air as we spend time in the Natural World. Wind holds the power to speak directly to our Soul in a language without words. Wind holds the Power of Wisdom and the energy to clear the mind of negative thoughts, resentments and depression. May we draw a Healing Breath to our Lower Self so we can start from a place of Unity, Peace, and Hope in our future.
The Wind/IK glyph illustrates the portals carved in stone through which the Sound of the Wind would be magnified. May we listen for the Divine Voice that is magnified by a Portal today.
To all my relations, may we acknowledge this as a Day for Communion with the Creator. May we call on a Resource of Divine Strength to help us fulfill our Life Purpose, and initiate ourselves through a commitment to the new experience. May we use this day to Discern the Voice of Creator in Communion with our Higher Self. May we Know the presence of the Creator as the breeze that touches our cheek and rustles our hair. May we See Wind as the source of animation that brings a still-image of our world to life. May we imagine the thing unseen that carries birds through the sky, and from which we draw the very Breath of Life. May we draw a Breath of Spirit imagining the Life that was given to our Higher Self as our True Identity. In the space between breaths, may we crystallize the Truth of Who We Really Are, so Divine Discernment can be drawn from our Higher Self.

THE TRECENA OF WIND/IK

1 Wind/IK (Cherokee, Whirlwind/AGALU’GA)
Galactic Tone 1: Unity. One is the beginning of all things, the first, the whole and the all in one. One’s are assertive and self-guided and give a good push to whatever project they are associated with. One persons work best when meeting a challenge. Do not expect One-persons to be attentive to details or to put the finishing touches on things.
Wind/IK: Breath of Spirit, breath of life. Winds embody the power of dissemination and planting of good seeds or ideas. Dreamers and planners with powerful imaginations, Wind persons make great orators and they spread the word of spiritual inspiration as it is carried by the wind. Wind is the power behind the movement of natural cycles such as weather, erosion, and cultural change. As the wind, these persons are extremely changeable and adaptable. They may appear inconsistent or fickle to others. Wind can be destructive to self and others by putting on airs. When Winds strut and boast, expanding on facts and accomplishments, they are building the dark clouds of trouble that may become hurricanes.
Cherokee, Whirlwind/AGALU’GA: Whirlwind’s symbol is a double spiral helix in rising smoke. Wind brings energy for an Inquiring mind, learning and wisdom. In Cherokee, the constellations are represented by 12 birds (dancers), the 13th bird is the Whirlwind, the lead dancer. This reflects the whirling of life. Wind is the breath of the Universe, the channel of communication that carries the Sacred Smoke to the Great Spirit.
