MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 6 is the first day of Peak Energy in this cycle of Spiritual Growth. The energy of Tone 6 facilitates dynamic developments. Compared to a great athlete, Tone 6 draws upon all its practice, strength, and talent to generate the momentum of forward movement.
Deer/MANIK is our guide to a realization of our own transformation. MANIK is also known as Hand, which acknowledges our Divine Purpose to be an Extension of the Creator. The glyph illustrates a Human Hand with the thumb and forefinger grasping an Element of Ether. The thumb and forefinger of the right hand respectively represent our Divine Will (right thumb ruled by the Sun/AHAU, the Divine Masculine), and our Divine Discernment (right forefinger ruled by Crocodile/IMIX, the Divine Feminine). Through the “Will to Discern” Sacred Wisdom, we complete a circuit of Divine Energy.
Deer/MANIK is Day Sign of the Mayan Priest, and the bringer of Spiritual Tools. Deer is said to keep every Spiritual Tool it has ever used. Deer is a Blue Day Sign of the West. West is the direction that calls the response of our Lower Self to new life experience. As our Lower Self offers its fear of limitation, Deer presents the Spiritual Tool to overcome it. Deer is God’s Hand of Divine Intervention in the Human affairs of the world.
On 6 Deer/MANIK we are geared for our Highest Performance of Spiritual Growth, through an Employment of all our Spiritual Tools. Deer’s first and most important Spiritual Tool is Vigilance, the tool that it uses to Discern its own Movement. This is also the first Peak Day in the 12 Uinal of Understanding.
The 12th Uinal – The 12th Uinal of the Tzolk’in holds a Higher Intention of Understanding. The Wind/IK trecena resides in this 20-day cycle that Transforms our Comprehension of Truth for the Ascension of this 260-day Tzolk’in round. The 260-days represent a Full Harvest Cycle of Human Transformation. We are approaching the Ascension to a New “I Am.”
The 260 days are related to the gestation cycle of Corn, as the Maya saw Corn as the symbol of The People. It also relates to the two cycles of Venus. 12 is the “fruit bearing” energy of the harvest cycle. We are being drawn by a Higher Intention to Create a new Seed of our Self. At One with the Creator, the Seed of Each Harvest is Higher than the one before, and made more capable for the two sides of our Self to walk in Harmony and Equity. Together, every generation is fulfilling the Creator’s Dream of Divine Justice. We were Created for the purpose of Relationship. The Creator wanted to Experience Divine Justice. We are beginning to see that Justice and Injustice are one and the same thing. At what point does Justice become an Injustice?
Under the Principle of Polarity, every position on the scale of extremes holds a “higher” and “lower” aspect of being. We are in a Higher State of Being today than we were yesterday, while we are in a Lower State of Being than who we will be tomorrow. The only way to Experience Divine Justice is by comparing the degrees on the scale. Without our Lower Self, we can’t experience our Higher Self. The ultimate Ascension of Humanity, is a zero point of our two-sides operating in perfect Harmony.
Our Lower Self is the Underdog. We can reduce its Polarity by making a Discernment of a Higher Value. We’ve never really seen our Lowest Self operating in its state of Highest Performance. Acknowledging the shared Divinity of our Lower Self, gives us an entirely new filter for Divine Discernment and the Equity of Right Relationship within our Self.
The 12th Uinal is ruled by Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, the “Dawn Lord” that appears as Venus, the morning star. 12 reflects the dual aspect of Venus, as it appears as the morning star. The morning face of Venus was seen as the menacing twin, our Lower Self. I was questioning why “higher and lower self” suddenly became a new framework of understanding. The synchronicity sinks in that we were Empowered for Spiritual Growth by CIMI, the Twins. We might also notice the gut feelings and goosebumps of 4 Chicchan are “stabilizing” as a “new normal.”
We are all being supported by energy to see the change in our Self. The process of understanding requires a commitment to some time for reflection. We are beginning to Comprehend our Self in a new way. As observed by the Yucatec tradition, the last day of the Tzolk’in is 13 Sun/AHAU. We are progressing toward an Ascension of Consciousness, completed by a Divine Illumination.
All of our experiences together are raising the Collective Consciousness of Humanity. We are learning what can be accomplished by walking in Harmony through each day and season of the year. Each generation would produce a Higher Seed for the next.
6 Deer/MANIK is calling us to a way of movement that engages everything we have to give. It is the Extended Hand of God that offers Unconditional Love. Our first guidance is Conscious Vigilance of our Self in every direction of our Life – paying attention to our Inspiration (East), our Relationships (South), our Response to Life Experience (West), and the Wealth of our Collective Wisdom (North). In every direction we can draw a better understanding of our Self. Next, we would know our Strengths and Weaknesses, so we can be compensated through Divine Intervention. The result of Deer/MANIK’s Spiritual Tools, is the Strength to stand in the Truth and Authenticity of our Whole Self.
Deer is the Leader through the Power of Harmonic Resonance. Holding a Pure Current of Divine Energy, Lower Vibrations are entrained to follow in sympathy. As we become this Whole and Balanced version of our Self, we transmit an unseen vibration that raises the vibration of the Collective Whole. Deer also holds the Polarity of Strength and Vulnerability, serving in the Roles as both Protector and Deliverer of Divine Love.
To all my relations, may we be steadfast in our Intention to build the Relationship between our Lower and Higher Self. May we reflect on the Value of the Lower Self as “Higher” than we perceived it before. May we acknowledge this as a very important time in a major cycle of Transformation, that is worthy of our reflection. May we see how we can use our Divine Will and Divine Discernment to Grasp onto a Current of Divine Consciousness. Deer is the Extension of God’s Unconditional Love. Our purpose is to Be the Hand of God in the World. May we be vigilant in our observation to see where we can Be the Hand of God for the Harmony and Equity of the Whole.
in lak’ech, i am another you

6 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)
Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.
Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.
Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions. Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer: A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician. Ability to create harmonic resonance.
