TRECENA OF FLINT/ETZNAB

Beginning February 16, 2017 | Daily Daykeeper Journal

TRECENA NOTES:

  • LIGHT/DARK: Flint/ETZNAB is a “Dark” trecena, meaning a cycle of applying what we have learned. Sometimes “dark” can be experienced as requiring more effort, and we could expect Flint/ETZNAB to present some uncomfortable truths. Though, what is brought to light will be swept away. (Each day and each trecena follow patterns of “Light” and “Dark.” “Light” represents incoming inspiration; “Dark” represents application of what was inspired. Humans follow a binary pattern of transformation. We receive Light, then in the Dark we reflect Our Light back.)

  • UINALS: Uinals are the 20-day procession of the Day Signs (columns on the Tzolk’in). We can relate to them as a Higher Context for what the trecena is working to accomplish. We begin this trecena in the 6th Uinal of Flow (establishing Flow, Synchronicity and Patter of Movement), and 4 Crocodile/IMIX we move into the 7th Uinal of Balance. The 7th Uinal are the Core Days of the calendar that are absent of any Portals.
  • HAAB WAYEB/NEW YEAR: We continue through the Wayeb through 4 IMIX. The Wayeb is the 19th month of the Haab (solar calendar) that is 5 days long. The Wayeb closes the 365 day year and on 5 Wind/IK we celebrate the New Year. 5 Wind/IK will be the Year Bearer, and Flint/ETZNAB will be a prevailing guide, as the leader of the 5 Wind trecena. From a Higher Context, we are entering a year that could be defined as a time of seeing things for what they really are. (More on the Wayeb at the bottom of the page.)

wayeb-glyph2THE WAYEB: Today begins the 19th month of the Haab (or Chol Ab’) calendar. The Haab is the solar calendar of 365 days used primarily for agriculture. The Haab is made of 18 months of 20 days, and a 19th month of 5 days, known as the Wayeb. Today is the first day of 5 days before the arrival of the Haab New year, February 20, 2017 (5 Wind/IK). The Wayeb is a time of special ceremonies and prayers for a new cycle of harvest. The Tzolk’in and Haab are linked energy cycles, given the Haab tracks the solstices, equinoxes, and seasons of Mother Earth, which directly influence the Human. A traditional Mayan date shows at least the Tzolk’in day and the Haab day, when sets a date in precision with the Haab 52-year cycle of 18980 days.

“The Wayeb is sometimes called “the time of no time,” a period of retreat and reflection on the year ending, and also time for clearing unfinished business. The Elders say that what we do on these 5 days of the Wayeb will affect our life in the coming year. This is Sacred Time to reinforce our communion with The Ancestors. It is also a time for spiritual cleansing, asking forgiveness for our mistakes, paying debts, and letting go of thoughts and feelings that are in lower vibration. This would be a time for cleaning the house and for throwing away old and broken things. This is a time of offerings and to help those who need help.” * Jen Soto

Do you have a Personal Burner Day during this trecena?

What’s a Burner Day?  Burner Days relate to burning off excess energies. The Maya still follow the tradition of “burning days” observed on Global Burner days by Sacred Fire Ceremony to restore balance and harmony to the community.

Burner Days:

If your Birth Day Sign is shown as a “related burner” and matches the Tone of the day, it’s your burner day.  Burner days represent days when energy build-up is released and is a good day to use fire ceremony.  Additional information on Burner Days.

The Global Burner Days:

Global Burner DaysIn additional to Personal Burner Days, there are Global Burner Days where Fire Ceremony is offered to all the people. This is a time when excess energy is released. The four global burner days are 4 Sun/Ahau, 4 Eagle/MEN, 4 Dog/OC, and 4 Serpent/CHICCHAN. Burner days share the same Tone number. Each person has 4 personal burner days, along with global burners. Additional information on Burner Days.

What is your birth sign on the Mayan Calendar?

You can seek a deeper understanding of yourself through your Destiny Kin, which translates to the day you were born on the Tzolkin Calendar. You can use any of the calculators on the Tzol’kin Calendar page to find your own Day Sign.
